Delta Poker Tournament Participants

 5th Annual Poker Tournament

Michael Steen, a 1997 Linfield graduate and Delta Alum, has won the 5th Annual Delta Poker Tournament at Old Market Pub in Portland on Saturday, April 10th.  Mike was knocked out of the tournament in the first 30 minutes, but decided to rebuy into the game.

A great decision as he wouldn't lose too many hands the rest of the tournament.  Mike chose a vacation rental from about 20 locations as the top prize.  Fred Krug, who travelled from Seattle for the game, finished second and chose Mariner club seats with parking for a Yankee game in July.  Tiffany Helton, the boss of current member Tom Sherwood, finished third and won Blazer tickets for Monday night, April 12th, against Oklahoma City.  The poker tournament contributed roughly $700 to the refurbishing of the chapter room.  I would like to thank the members for helping to run the tournament and dealing the cards, and the alumni for participating.  Especially Randy Reason, Rudy Van Pelt and Rob Owens for prize donations and sponsoring members to play.  Look forward to next year!

Mike Steen

Participants:  Rick Smith, Dave Covey, Mike Kaiser, Bruce Evans, Stan Axtman, Tiffany Helton, Rodney Kotoff, Guy Finley, Ryan Langdon, Chris Brunelle, Andy Jones, Mike Steen, Ian Noel, Fred Krug, Rudy Van Pelt and Rob Owens.

The culmination of the 18 month effort known as the Delta One Hundred Fund pays off the mortgage of the Delta House.  It was celebration time at the Delta Homecoming Banquet on October 16th, 2009.  The members of the fraternity contributed a sizable amount of money to make the final payment on a mortgage that has existed for 44 years (or variations of the original mortgage).
